Airstream
The winning entry was selected by the MINI Space jury. The story was picked based on originality, and style.

Fritz Hansen Series Seven
The prize: Four Fritz Hansen Series Seven(TM) chairs
The winner author: WordWonda

The winning story:

"With the MINI and Airstream [by Republic of Fritz Hansen] beach bumming becomes beach stunning. Chick in bikini, boy in boardies, precious cargo: beer and boards. Hit the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia. First we head to the iconic surf spot; Bells Beach. Looking good, admiring glances, nice body - the car or the cargo? Park up, surfs up, catch some waves. Head back to base, grab a beer and pull the sun bed out. Bronze the afternoon away before grabbing the boards again for a sunset surf. Work up an appetite, bbq on the beach. Sun bed becomes under the stars bed.

Up early, drive on. Stop at some sweet sand dunes, surf board becomes sand board. Back on the road, head for the 12 Apostles. Awesome, inspiring, majestic. Wonder why they're not a world wonder?

Hit the road, views to die for. Spotted: Koala. Make that koalas, it seems the locals have come out to take a better look at our ride.

Arrive at our final spot, Port Fairy, a traditional historic fishing village. With our arrival old meets new. Gives us a talking point, meet the locals. Get the chairs out, take it easy, relax. So laid back we're almost horizontal. Do I really have to tell you what's for dinner?

What a trip, what a set up, already planning the next one. What started with a mini just got HUGE."

Friday evening, 19:00. Outside a warm summer evening and I am sitting here in one of those needless meetings. If only the weekend would start right away.

Finally it is over and I can leave the office. On the way to my exclusive new MINI Cooper S Clubman I feel my feet begin to walk faster. I almost rip the tie off my shirt and hop into the driver’s seat. A sporting shudder of the engine and a throaty ‘hello’ tell me what we have in mind today.

The traffic is quite heavy but thanks to the punchy engine and the go-kart like handling of my MINI I can leave behind town in no time. At home, I complement the dream team with my beloved and the Airstream trailer.

We follow the rocky coastline for a while, almost floating towards our destination. My MINI’s premium audio system plays the latest Jack Johnson album and we are so relaxed already. This could go on forever. But I set the indicator towards the cliffs. A quick glance to my girl friend and I see her expecting smile. She changes the music to the driving rhythms of Pink and leans back. I am getting excited and hit the gas …

“And we need it on time!” I hear, pulled back to reality by the shrill voice of the project leader.

“Sure” I say with an obviously irritating smile and head to the underground parking , with adrenaline beginning to circulate in my veins...

Meta senza nome

"Are we there yet?" I groaned as we passed yet another lone ranger dilapidated tree. The road was dead flat ahead, it had been for miles. Stretching to the sides the landscape reached the horison with nothing but grass and a tree once in a while to break the monotony. “I told you this part is the boring bit and then it gets real good, just relax and enjoy the ride,” Elliot said reassuringly. “Well, it better be! My bum’s sore and I’m tired,” I retorted grumpily. On the radio a song started playing ‘I heard they build I road down in the dessert that goes on and on for miles and miles...’ Elliot turned to look at me and we both burst out laughing, very appropriate. I was still laughing as I looked up. All of a sudden the flatness was gone, the most beautiful scene I’ve ever seen replaced it. The mountains looming up next to me looked like someone had started to play with clay and finishing off had dumped it on earth, their finger imprints still lingering. “Wow...” was all I could get out. “Told you it was going to be amazing,” Elliot said smiling. We turned off the main road and starting winding our way up the mountain. As we stopped at the caravan park on top we were just in time for sunset. The mountains in the distance were topped with layers of red-pink clouds as the sun slipped past. This was pure perfection.

I knew it was out there - one of the most beautiful cities ever. We had sneaked in with our caravan, parking it right in the middle of the waterfront. As I woke up I stole a peak outside. Looming up behind the boats in the harbour was the formidable mountain, its flat top layered with a cloudy tablecloth.
"Oi, what are you doing in here!" the moment was broken by a very upset security guard marching towards our caravan. "Ladies, I think our alarm just went off!" I hollered to my friends. I jumped out , ran to the jeep door and started the engine. I managed to steer us out of the waterfront without getting caught and soon we were cruising towards the city centre. Stopping at a robot Melanie shouted directions at me, "turn right into Long street, we can find some breakfast there!" Turning off the main road I was met by a backpackers paradise. Along the road was quaint shops selling all kinds of touristy memorabilia. In between these were little restaurants and coffee shops. I looked down and realised I was still in my pyjamas! I located an open parking lot between the buildings and pulled in. Climbing in the other ladies high fived me for manoeuvring us out of the waterfront without getting caught. “Sheez, felt like we were in a moving being chased by the cops!” Claire exclaimed and we all giggled at the ordeal. “Never a dull moment,” I replied smiling.

NOTE: There is a mistake at the end of my story... the ending sentence should be: "I continue my way in my Clubman in look for a spot to hide from the sunrise."

Making love outdoors is one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life. Now, after having made love to my girl in Juan Les Pins, a small beach south of France, she and I are waiting for the next sunset to capture with our camera. Sitting under a blue sky contrasting the orange clouds, we realize how much peace our hobby brings to our lives. The ritual starts when we take the steering wheel of our Clubman, followed by the Airstream camper trailer, and we drive looking for the next spot to set the camera. I find myself waiting for the sun to set when we suddenly find ourselves between kissing, caressing and orgasms. People have come to know us as the sunset hunter lovers, all because we wait for the precise moment of the sun to be photographed… The challenge of overcoming these moments turns distressing, you know? I then start to wonder that, maybe at night, in our Airstream’s bed, making love to keep warm immerse in a foggy atmosphere next to a southern French vineyard, the experience could repeat itself… surely at a different beautiful setting. For now, I’m just watching my girl play with her hand in the wind, surrounded by the sound of relaxing music. My camera and I are waiting for more magical sunsets to capture.. and we continue our way to the West.
