MINI Kapooow! MINI Starts Salone del Mobile with a Bang
It's not only Superman who cuts a fine figure in brilliant blue. In the dynamic two-part installation MINI Kapooow! at the 52nd annual acclaimed design fair Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy, the MINI Design Team headed by Anders Warming took cues from the classic graphic novel to bring out the pop in the MINI Paceman.
MINI Kapooow! freezes the MINI Paceman mid-flight through a three-dimensional comic strip as it leaps between two cells. The newest MINI on the block was born ready for the occasional madcap antic, and the dramatic transformation of materials and colours representing this intrepid spirit in MINI Kapooow! begs for a closer look. Beginning as a traditional chromed vehicle, it embarks on a fantastical metamorphosis, bursting into a colourful display of sculpted paper and other craft materials and symbolising the prototyping phase of the creative process. Amidst the visual fanfare are myriad coloured tabs with iconic MINI model names, as well as well-known film and cult personalities, weaving a veritable "wall of fame" for all to enjoy.
All of this is then encased in an eye-popping wallpaper of flowing lines, paying homage to those impactful contours of graphic novels, while recalling the fierce silhouette of the MINI Paceman.
A feast for the eyes isn't the only thing on offer. MINI Kapooow! stands as the centrepiece of the MINI Paceman Garage - a veritable mini-village housed within a renovated building in Milan's design district, which comes with all the urban trappings one could hope for.
Guests can grab a bite from the on-site restaurant or take part in one of the breakfast events to network with like-minded MINIacs. If it's music you're after, get into the groove with a live performance from We Have Band or pick up some wax at the vinyl shop. A MINI cinema awaits those in need of a matinee break, and an on-site barbershop will get you trimmed and looking dapper for a night of Milanese fun.
It was all hands on deck to get MINI Kapooow! off the drawing board and into reality. Flip through the gallery to see some behind-the-scenes shots of the project taking shape in the studio.

He did it! After completing a 9,000+-kilometre loop through South America, Nasser Al-Attiyah won the Rally Dakar 2015 in the MINI ALL4 Racing. It is the fourth time in a row that MINI has won the world's toughest rally.
More than 9,000 kilometres over perilously soft sand dunes, through fields of treacherous boulders, across the gargantuan heights of the Andes, and through the relentless desert heat of one of the driest regions on earth: anyone with victory in mind must be prepared to suffer. That much is certain, as MINI looks to successfully defend its title at the 2015 Rally Dakar.
MINI has competed in the gruelling Dakar Rally since 2011, winning 3 of the 4 it's entered. Recap one of the greatest winning streaks for MINI since its legendary days of the 1960s here.

The competitors at the 2015 Rally Dakar now have half of the roughly 9,000 kilometres through the heart of South America behind them. Their reward is a rest day. However, it would be wrong to believe they can put their feet up for a day. There is no time for that sort of thing on the toughest rally in the world.
