Sneakerheads: Number One Fan from Sneakerness
They say you need to walk a mile in someone's shoes before you can understand them. To really get to know sneakerheads like Lluvia Mosquera of Zurich, Switzerland, you might have to lace up for a marathon! Lluvia boasts a collection of a whopping 217 sneakers.
Lluvia was selected as the resident "Sneakerhead" of Sneakerness Zurich last month. Sneakerness, presented by MINI, is an annual tour across Europe dedicated to putting the hottest treads on the market in the spotlight. And just this past weekend, Sneakerness took Amsterdam by storm, bringing another country full of fans the latest in fashionable streetwear.
As the honorary representative of the sneaker lifestyle, we were fascinated to learn how a collection like Lluvia's gets started. Her first pair was the Nike Cortez back in 1997. She picked them up in Marseille, France during a particularly hip-hop heavy part of her life, and from that point on she was hooked. It's hard to top that feeling of slipping into a fresh pair of trainers ready to march with fresh legs through the streets.
The sneaker aficionado says it's not about the aesthetics of a shoe, as much as their attitude. She judges on whether they can flip the right switch when she slips them on. She does, however, prefer classic colourways to some of the brighter new designs. Her all-time favourite? The Air Max 1. "They've been the most comfy trainers and have guided me all over the world, all over parties, and all over my daily life."
Lluvia explained that ultimately, your choice of footwear says a lot about you. Whether they're limited editions or for the masses, colourful, casual, athletic or edgy - it wouldn't be hard to pick out a different pair of kicks for nearly every day of the year when you start to imagine the possibilities.
Sneakerness has two more stops this year on its tour across Europe. It'll be leaving tracks in Vienna on September 15th before trekking over to Cologne in October (exact dates coming soon).
