“All Together Now” Design Competition: Winners Announced!
This competition was all about capturing a “festival feeling”, about setting the mood for MINI United with images of excitement and community spirit. Looking at all the entries, our judges just couldn’t keep the smiles from their faces — the photographs and designs that were submitted do an amazing job of capturing the feeling when everyone comes together to share a common bond like simple sunshine, roaring firelight, or a steady beat commanding a crowded dance floor. Thanks to all who participated, for submitting images that brightened MINI Space with their shining memories and most exhilarating moments.
Jury Prize 1: Paid Trip to MINI United 2012
Water Battle by Zoltán Balogh, Hungary
Nothing says ‘togetherness’ like a big, all-in water fight. As soon as the judging panel saw this winning entry by Zoltán Balogh, everyone just wanted to step right into the photograph and join in the fun. Everything about it perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the competition — from the movement and ecstatic smiles of the subjects, to the lens flaring with brilliant sunshine and the droplets of water splashing about the frame. It’s the essence of carefree community spirit, perfectly caught in a single-shot tableau.
Second place was awarded to Mihai Semenescu for this beach bonfire scene, and deservedly so. The circle of friends, gathering together at day’s end around the fire, is a simple yet beautiful way to symbolize camaraderie and closeness. There is a reassuringly safe and familiar quality to this scene, and the long, dark shadows create the perfect contrast to the pool of warmth and light at the shot’s center. It’s an image that whispers, rather than shouts, that we are "All Together Now".
‘Euphoric’ just about sums up Andrea de Amicis’ beautifully evocative entry, which deservedly takes special recognition for capturing both the popular vote prize from the community, and a top spot from the panel of judges.
It’s easy to see why this image captured both the community and our panel: Gathering together to listen to music is a shared human experience everyone can relate to, and from this point of view, it’s hard not to imagine yourself right in the action. That hand, raised high to signal connection to the crowd and beating drums perfectly captures the electrifying thrill that takes hold when music rules the crowd.
All Together Now has come to a close. Take a look at the gallery for the best of the rest. And don’t forget to stay tuned for our next competitions: we can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for our next creative challenge.
