Aaron Betsky interview: A chat with the Director

One day before the opening weekend, Biennale director and curator Aaron Betsky joins us on the grounds of the Arsenale exhibition venue. He shares some last minute thoughts on his creative direction of the largest architecture exhibition in the world.

The topic "Out there: Architecture Beyond Building" aims to explore architecture without focusing on the buildings themselves. Betsky, a trained architect and prolific author, curator and critic was former director of NIA (Netherlands Architecture Institute) and is current director of the Cincinatti Museum of Art.

In the interview Betsky reveals to us that the Biennale for him is actually a hobby!  He refers to history in considering the present and how the exhibition will respond to many of the utopian ideas of the sixties. He also has some surprising thoughts on the phenomenon of the Starchitect and how it is certainly not something new!

Watch the video to get a sneak preview of what's to come.
