“Another Day. Another Editorial.” The MINI Coupé Goes Couture
MINI has been in an excitable mood ever since the launch of the Coupé, so when cutting-edge London style magazine Dazed & Confused announced its 20th birthday, a celebration was on the cards. Now, together with New York design company karlssonwilker, the pair has teamed up to create an exclusive 12-page spread of MINI inspired fashion with an appetite for adventure.
MINI, Dazed and karlssonwilker handpicked six of London’s most razor-sharp young fashion graduates to suit and boot a new generation of urban adventurers. The brief: to create clothing for “Another Day. Another Adventure.” in the cities of the future, using the 3D drawings for the MINI Coupé as inspiration …
… and then to watch as the crazed visionaries at karlssonwilker wreak graphic havoc, strewing dystopic images of deconstructed, reanimated MINI machinery across the magazine spread. Now that’s a lot more adventure than we bargained for!
So with karlssonwilker launching automotive Armageddon from across the ocean, MINI and Dazed had high expectations for their selected young London designers. Steven Tai, Shaun Samson, Jaeyeon Lee, Ziyeon Kim, Paul Stafford and Tomislav Mostecak, who cut their teeth at the Royal College of Art and St Martins, were the lucky six chosen to forge the future generations’ urban armour. And judging by these visionary creations, they’ve more than proved they’ve got the mettle to take on the machines. If this is the fashion of the future, we can hardly wait!
Check out the gallery to see the full 12-page spread, now in the November Anniversary Edition of Dazed & Confused.
