IT#S Report: Fashion & Accessories July 21, 2009

ITS offers creative competitions in many artistic disciplines, and the ITS#FASHION award by all means the most spectacular. In addition to bringing fashion and accessory designers from around the world and awarding over 100,000 EUR in prizes during the final ceremony, ITS stages an extravagant fashion show featuring looks from all the competitors for both men and women's collections. During the ceremony four major awards are given out by the jury for the best fashion collections, and three for best accessory collections.

The distinguished  jury is made up of members including Renzo Rosso, Founder and President of Diesel, Elisa Palamino, Vice President of Design of Diane Von Fürstenburg, Barbara Frenchin, Founder of ITS and Director of the creative agency EVE, and many others including winners of previous editions of ITS#FASHION.

Over-all, the goal of this event is not just to award "the best" of each category, but to make the experience for all the competitors rich creatively, as well as connect them to a larger network of industry insiders and fellow designers...and put on quite a show while they are at it.

During our time in Trieste, we also got to explore the ITS archive which consists of portfolios from designers, pieces from winning collections, and information on all the previous participants of ITS. Housed in an attic space above the ITS headquarters the archive contains over 5000 portfolios from designers from 80 countries, not to mention dresses, hats, photography prints, jewelry, and shoes...it is a treasure trove of talent!
