MINI United 2012: Every Picture Tells the Story

Even when the musicians took their final curtain calls at MINI United, there were still plenty of surprises in store for those who had travelled from far and wide in search of the ultimate MINI experience.

It was everywhere, part of every thing. Reflected in the impossible brightness of David Bowie’s MINI, or the crystalline sound shining from the stadium speakers, high intensity and unceasing anticipation were the order of the day, every day, at MINI United 2012.

David Bowie's MINI

When there weren’t racing legends of past and present showing the crowds the incredible speed and precision with which MINI can tame a world class race track, there were friends exchanging infectious laughter while showing one another their own version of speed and precision on a world-class (no joke, it was insane) go-kart track.

Wrap Article

For some, it was the gatecrashing raw power that the inimitable Iggy and the Stooges brought to the main stage, others the irresistible urge to dance alongside thousands deep into the night guided by the light of Martin Solveig’s positive pop vibe on the festival dance floor.

MINI United

Everywhere was life and energy, and no corner went untouched by the ever present Mediterranean sun. It was hot — in so many ways. The mornings saw sleepy smiles on the faces of camping couples, piling out of their tents to score free coffee in pajamas. In the evening the music was loud, and in the mornings mellow, minimal.

And all was watched over by the sound of engines. Of starting whistles. Of radio chatter from the pit crews, or tires spinning and squealing their way across the infamous test track that the MINI Driving Experience called home.

MINI Moments

There’s no way to imagine any three days moving faster than those we just witnessed at MINI United 2012. And it was a lot more than the fact that the event featured some of the fastest MINI on the planet.

The big idea behind the event was to showcase worlds of Friends, Festival and Racing. What we witnessed over the course of the weekend was all that and more. To round out the experience, the world of MINI Design at Camp Creative brought a bit of polish to the proceedings.

Wrap 2

Our take on the whole thing is this — being MINI means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. There’s a great deal of meaning behind it all, with each fan reflecting the multifaceted and dynamic culture of personality that is the MINI Community. It makes a great deal of sense. It’s about a lifestyle and a feeling that is as complex and individualistic as the people who bring it to life at moments like this. We’ve heard it before, but in the afterglow of MINI United 2012 it makes more sense than ever. It’s just personal.

Wrap 5

To celebrate the festival spirit and the light we’ve seen in the eyes of its fans this weekend, we’ve decided to take a different approach to the festival wrap — we’ve turned the camera around, to show you the most powerful MINI Moments through the lenses of those who were there.

All images you see on this page are user generated, shared by the MINI Community during the event via the MINI Moments app. Thanks to all who contributed, and to those who joined us from back home. We can’t wait to see everything MINI that lies ahead.
