Spoiler alert! You’re about to be taken behind the scenes of the new NOT NORMAL film by MINI. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss out. It’s an inspiring showstopper with a message that’s guaranteed to rally your soul’s wilder side.
For far too many soldiers of the daily grind, a sedentary ritual of beige oatmeal and black coffee to-go stifles the carpe diem we all have a right to before the clock even strikes 9. MINI knows there's a key to avoiding just another normal day, and for a proud few it unlocks potential as soon as they pull out of the driveway. Because you can't just wait for adventure to arrive on your doorstep. You have to zealously hit the gas and prove you're willing to go clear off the map to find it. In this new film, MINI went on its own journey in search of how to chart its own path.
A backdrop of unusually vibrant character was needed for this dynamic dispatch from MINI, and after thorough scouting, the modern-renaissance city of Berlin was selected to play host. Local talent was recruited to pack the film end-to-end with dazzling displays of video art, acrobatics and wild pyrotechnics. Amidst a stream of optical excitement, viewers take in a panorama of NOT NORMAL spaces like back alleys and music venues of the urban underbelly – even an abandoned chemical plant on the outskirts of the city.
On the other side of the lens, the intrigue only continued. Director Ralf Schmerberg and photographer Damien Blinkk worked together with a dedicated team of creatives, including cameraman Frank Griebe, known for his work on the cult classic Run Lola Run.
