"Plandeck" wins the Check-In Architecture Competition!

When our big raffle machine spat out the name Plandeck as the winner of the Check-In Architecture competition, he was not the only lucky one. We had a sneaky look at his profile and it turns out Plandeck is a creative force to be reckoned with.

Besides his entries for the MINI Space Design and the NYC Shuttle Design Competition, he has a remarkable portfolio. So we thought we would double up and also feature him as our „Portfolio of the Week". We had a quick chat about his art, bobbing pigeons and of course, the MINI Rooftop NYC.

Q.: So, you are the lucky winner who won the trip to the MINI Rooftop NYC! How are you feeling?

A.: First, I have to say this is wonderful. Thank you MINI Space team. I've never been to NYC, and what a great excuse to get me there. I'm excited. It still hasn't sunk in yet.

Q.: What are you expecting from your trip and who is the fortunate person who will be joining you?

A.: I think it will be a great place to meet creative people that are doing something big. Something new.
I just want a few more people to be aware of who I am and what I do. As for my companion on the rooftop, I plan on bringing my sweet sweetness Katelyn.

Q.:
Which video did you vote for and why was it your favorite?

A.: I thought that "Soundscaping: Audiovisua Festival" was a great idea. Transforming urbania through sound. Walking around Chicago, I wish everyone could hear what's on my headphones. It's hard to explain, like when a pigeon is walking to the beat, bobbing its little pigeonhead.

Q.: After we found out you were the winner we peeped at your profile and were surprised at how awesome it was! Please tell us more about you as an artist and your work?

A.: As an artist, I'm a painter and an illustrator. I do whatever work comes my way. I have a pretty unique style, and who ever gets it, wants it.

Q.: The headline of the MINI Rooftop NYC is Creative Use of Space. What about you, as a creative person what's  your idea of Creative Use of Space?

A.: That's easy, it's just how I look at things vs. what you choose not to see & the balance in middle.

Q.: In your paintings you display mature motifs with a simple, very symbolic way of drawing. How would you describe your style?

A.: I call my style Post-toon. It's what having a huge surplus of cartoons has done to me. I take serious topics and paint them, but the delivery always ends up very friendly, even cute. It's the way I understand the workings of the world. There's no irony intended, and needless to say I'm a very happy person.

Q.: It's only 20 days left until your plane will depart. How will you prepare yourself for this trip and will you get nervous?

A.: I might get a haircut and a shave. I'm more nervous about getting lost in New York than I am about going to the party.

Q.: Anything special you want to say to the MINI Space-ers reading this?

A.: For a good time go to PATRICKLANDECK.COM.
