I Agree with "Advie", i don't like the result either, A man and his parrot?, where's the design?, That's just a picture. MINI space members should judge the designs by themselves, quit the voting thing. Are you guys seeing the design for "Electrified"?, the one that's in first place now, I see a balloon and some flowers inside, where's the electrifying concept in that?.

In response to duminda's comment. As written in my original comment which I am free to leave, I did say that it was a great way to convey urban oasis. I just don't think it's original as there is already a current campaign with exactly the same concept for a different car company. If you check out the website that I placed you gotta admit it looks pretty close. Being a professional designer, I'm sure you'll know that a great deal of time is involved from the initial design through to finally having it printed on a billboard. Taking that into account, the VW Golf ad would have been done quite some time ago. Well before this competition as the retouch company that was involved in the VW Golf campaign I have worked with.

I am not disappointed in any sense, I did credit your work.

I think Elgee said it best, he's figured out where the judges head's at. so with that said don't just sit there go design something electrifying :))

I'm not trying to talk down on the winner, I think it's great but unfortunately I've just spotted a very similar concept VW golf. As a student learning about design from a fine art perspective I don't think this is entirely fair. You could argue that it's appropriated art but it's taken from a current campaign that is still running in other parts of the world and this site is meant to showcase creativity. Condsidering that this is for Mini cars, I don't think VW would be too impressed if their ad concept is being used for another brand car.

This is the website for the VW golf campaign. http://adsoftheworld.com/files/images/golfred.preview.jpg

There are a series of images for the VW Golf and these billboards are still currently being advertised in New Zealand.

Sorry Duminda, i think it's a great interpretation for Urban Oasis but it's just not original.

A guy watching a parrot? Well done! I wonder why there was a brief in the first place? So now we have to do designs according to the panels heads, think like they think...
Guys it might say electrified, lets put a monkey fixing cables... getting shocked until he turn blue... Well the competition got the juices flowing again...

I thought to perhaps attach some disingenuous congratulations to the winners in-case I might bias the judges against my future entries, but I won't annoy you with platitudes.

I thought perhaps the judge's pick would balance out the perceived lack of merits that other users complained about concerning the first three winners. As well as set the bar for the quality and direction that future entries might take. I have to admit that I'm a bit discouraged now that the selection has been made without any explanation from the judge's as to its merits or their opinion on the efficacy of the various other contestants concepts.

I'd also be curious to know if there is a vetting process for photos with the same reliability as getting copies of Illustrator/Photoshop/Indesign files. I didn't put much thought into the legitimacy of the entries, but it's a valid concern. I doubt that the company is dishing out any amount of money on rewards without investigating the winners though. For the sake of their own credibility.

Hey...helllo everyone...

I just wanted to say that as a person and designer, I am very disappointed through the last result of the content, and of course I am talking about that very nice photo with title "A Man & His Parrot Enjoy the Sunshine". In my opinion this picture gives many things out, thoughts about life etc etc...BUT... in my point of view,I can say that is unfair for people that put a limit target in their minds and designed something about MINI COOPER. I was sitting in a cafeteria with another 5 or 6 people that are specialist in graphic design and visual technologies and I found out that everyone was unsatisfied from the result. Is not because who got the MAC Book... but is HOW from 3 or 4 thousand "designs" a PHOTO made it to come up as the winner of the jury. I ll not say that my designs and everyone designs are better than this picture...but If I understood we are talking about creativity and how things are putted in the combination to show the result.

I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but this is the way I feel from my point of view. Congratulations to the winner and the other three guys form here, and I wish to mini space members a good and inspirational time....

Thank You
