Urban Nature Remixed Design Competition – Winners Announced!

In a modern city, the natural world and the industrial converge in every alleyway, on every windowsill, at each street corner. Look around, and you'll start to notice all kinds of green and growing things where you least expect them. At the crossroads where Mother Nature and man-made meet there's endless potential for creative inspiration. That idea was the seed that blossomed into the most recent MINI Space design competition: Urban Nature Remixed. With a fertile field of imagery to work with, you gave us thousands of entries whose breathtaking diversity made us wish we could honor them all. Here are the three entries our jury singled out after long, hard hours of careful deliberation, and the submission you the community chose as your favorite:

Urban Nature Remix

Jury Prize 1:  NEW Apple MacBook Air (11-Inch)
"Steps of the Nature" by operatedgirlnana from Mexico

Urban Nature Remix

The crisp elegance of this take on the theme perfectly summarizes the spirit of the Urban Nature design competition. Cracked pavement and sturdy street shoes juxtaposed cleanly with a struggling sprig of green. As the only bit of color in a black-and-white industrial world, our attention to the plant and its organic plight remind us to pay attention to those bits of life easily overlooked.

Jury Prize 2: Apple iPad (16GB)
"Wall" by Sluwatel from the Netherlands

Urban Nature Remix

With the frame evenly divided between the blue tiles and stained cement wall, the background of this photo very clearly communicates a sense of dichotomy, while the somber lighting, broken glass and dead tree branches offer a striking take on the plight of the natural world in the concrete jungle. In this way it's more than just a pretty picture, making us think about issues of conservation and coexistence.

Jury Prize 3: Ricoh CX3 Digital Camera
Entry disqualified. We only support 100% original works.

Popular Vote Prize: Apple iTunes Giftcard for appx. 100 songs
"Snales can live on urbans but contining green" by Rany from Lebanon

Urban Nature Remix

Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of our hectic lives, we forget to stop and look at the small things. You as a community chose this little guy as your favorite: a reminder to lean in for a closer look every now and then.

Hello MiniSpace! team!

I won the first place in the Urban Nature contest 4 MONTHS AGO! and so far I haven't heard anything of my prize...

I have already sent you by e-mail my shipment data 2 times and I would like to know what happens with that.

I don't know if there was some kind of problem or just everything was a fraud?
Anyway, I trust you to be honest and I realy hope you will clarify this situation soon...

Thank You Very Much.
