'last chance' was taken in japan on the Islet of Ganryu Jima which is between the main largest Japanese Island of Honshu and Kyushu. Ganry Jima is reached by ferryboat from the whaling port of Shimonoseki. Ganryu Jima was the site of the final fateful duel of the great Samurai swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, originator of the Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu style of Kenjitsu. The sculptures depict this final duel between him and Sasaki Kojiro who perished in the duel. After this, Musashi retired and spent the rest of his life in contemplation and meditation.
