The swank shopping strip that is Berlin's Friedrichstrasse was aglow with festive strings of lights and buzzing with bright-eyed shoppers last Thursday evening, as sparkling display windows radiated holiday spirit. Yet between the glitzed-out luxury boutiques and plush hotels, we stepped inside the sleek MINI showroom to find the atmosphere casual, a stimulating discussion taking place over the mobility of the future. The MINI E test drivers got together here as part of the "MINI E Berlin - powered by Vattenfall" program, which will come to an end in December. MINI Space was the only member of the press invited to attend this unique evening. more

A German Pop Icon Rocks the MINI E

We know, the MINI E Pioneers project is not about celebrity endorsements. But would it be fair to deny Herbert Grönemeyer, just because he's one of Germany's favorite singers...and a movie star, and a passionate activist who's been on the cover of TIME? After a test drive in Berlin this August he was hooked. Now he'll be joining the proud ranks of the Pioneers behind the wheel of his own MINI E for phase two of the pilot project, "MINI E powered by Vattenfall," which begins early next year. more

When it came time to selecting customers to participate in the field trial for the 100% electric MINI E, MINI didn't turn to celebrities. Instead, they used an extensive application process to identify the most qualified participants. Peter Trepp, a venture capitalist specializing in environmentally focused companies and passionate advocate for the future of electric cars fit the bill perfectly and is now the proud driver of MINI E #111. more
