A Celebration of Life and Fundraiser for AIDS in Vienna

The LIFE BALL is Europe's largest annual charity event dedicated to raising funds to fight the worldwide battle against HIV/AIDS. It aims to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS while celebrating life by hosting a fabulous red-carpet gala event, musical performance, fashion show, and parties galore in the classic Viennese grand ball fashion. Celebrities and party-goers from around the globe gather for this important cause and spectacular weekend. The 17th Annual LIFE BALL will take place on May 16th and the MINI Space team will be onsite prepared to document it in all its glory.

On May 16, 2009 the MINI Space team donned ball gowns and pirates outfits and went out to report from the blue carpet of the Life Ball in Vienna. In keeping with this year's "water" theme for the Life Ball, the long carpet that took costumed partygoers up the main square to the opening ceremony was glittering stretch of blue rather then red carpet. We were dazzled by the creative and cool array of costumes that came up the carpet and of course the finale, the Life Ball MINI which contained fashion legend Patricia Field and design team The Blonds. Overall, our biggest impression was the amount of people that came out in full regalia to support the cause of Life Ball, the fight again AIDS/HIV world-wide and the celebration of life.     more

Katy Parry, Pamela Anderson, Eva Longoria, Fran Drescher, Patricia Field, and The Blonds were all presented at the Life Ball press conference by founder Gery Keszler. Journalists from around the world crowded into the conference room of the Imperial Hotel in Vienna to hear these celebrities talk about the importance of raising awareness for the fight against AIDS world wide and the joy of celebration in honor of life at Life Ball 2009. We also got to witness the public unveiling of the Life Ball MINI designed by The Blonds for Katy Perry which will be raffled off with all proceeds going to Life Ball. The night before the Life Ball in Vienna and the MINI Space team stumbles upon the VIP pre-party at the Meridian Hotel. Celebrity sightings include Katy Perry, Patricia Field, The Blonds, Amanda Lapore, Ivana Trump, Ritchie Rich and more. We managed to catch a few of these elusive VIPs on camera before they disappeared into the night. more
