MINI & Triennale CreativeSet

The Triennale Design Museum and MINI present the MINI & Triennale Creative Set project. MINI & Triennale Creative Set is a permanent exhibition of neutral and flexible architectural peculiarities. The exhibition, situated on the premises of the Triennale Design Museum and designed by Antonio Citterio, is dedicated to the presentation of events and contemporary exhibitions. The original exhibition of sound objects has now been continued with a series of young Italian designers (Giulio Lacchetti, Dodo Arslan, Lorenzo Damiani, Massimiliano Adami, Deep Design, Paolo Ulian). The MINI & Triennale Creative Set exhibition creates space for creativity and experimentation in all their forms and facets. The series of exhibitions dedicated to the young designers is of particular significance, however, as one component of an effort in which the Triennale Design Museum and MINI are permanently engaged: The discovery of young emerging talent, and providing a platform for it.

Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti [deepdesign]

The project MINI & Triennale CreativeSet presents the [deepdesign] exhibition by Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti, continuing the series dedicated to Italian contemporary design in the CreativeSet space, at the Triennale Design Museum. December 17, 2009 to January 17, 2010. more

Massimiliano Adami - Fossil Magma

triennale

The project MINI & Triennale CreativeSet presents Fossil Magma by Massimiliano Adami. November 4 to December 8, 2009.

The exhibition documents Massimiliano Adami's work at the intersection of design, art and handicraft. Adami's approach is strongly characterized by an aesthetic perspective, while at the same time demonstrating an experimental attitude leading to the constant recycling and transformation of new and heterogeneous materials. more

Lorenzo Damiani - But where have all the inventors gone?

Damiani

The project MINI & Triennale CreativeSet presents Lorenzo Damiani, the next designer in the series of exhibitions dedicated to contemporary Italian design in the Triennale Design Museum's space CreativeSet.

The exhibition displays 18 projects, two of which are made exclusively for the show, documenting Lorenzo Damiani's creative universe. Born in 1972, Damiani studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano (Technical School of Milan), subsequently obtaining a Master's degree in Industrial Drawing at the Scuola Politecnica di Design (Technical School of Design). more

Dodo Arslan - Le attrazioni della materia at the MINI & Triennale Creative Set

arslan

The MINI & Triennale CreativeSet project presents Dodo Arslan, already a winner of the 2006 MINI Design Award for his project "Minimesis". In the new space dedicated to Italian contemporary design, the artist presents "Le attrazioni della materia" [literally: The Attractions of Matter] , curated by Fabio Verdelli.

On show is a selection of projects by Dodo Arslan. They represent the artist's multi-faceted creative universe, made up of complex polymorphic elements which interact with a diverse array of materials: From leather, metal and Plexiglas, to glass, carbon steel, marble and polyurethane. Although the artist rarely uses the canonical figures of solid geometry (parallelepipeds, prisms, spheres, etc.), his works often convey the concepts of structure and framing (the framework, the weave, the underlying fabric).

For Arslan, the figures originate at the precise point where he finds the materials which best interpret them, and it is precisely that experimentation which represents one of the distinctive features of his creative process. In order to discover the real nature of an object, Arslan dismantles it and analyses its components and materials... more

Giulio Iacchetti: Disobedient Objects at the MINI & Triennale Creative Set

Triennale

The Triennale Design Museum presents Giulio Iacchetti - Disobedient Objects

The title of the exhibition comes from the definition Giulio Iacchetti himself gives to the selected objects on display. The designer describes these objects as "disobedient," according them a paradigmatic and symbolic value in respect to his entire body of work. The objects used by Iacchetti range from chairs, knives, vases and lamps to water taps, sofas and even biscuits.
In his projects, Iacchetti time and again examines the necessity of amplifying and reinforcing the democratization of design. In the process, he always takes into consideration the dialectic exchange between culture and the art market... more

Sound objects at the MINI & Triennale CreativeSet

Triennale

Triennale Design Museum presents Sound Objects: The invisible dimension of design.

The exhibition for the first time systematically explores the sound dimension of objects, and the special role played by sound in the identification of products and brands, in a multimedia production.

The exhibition explores the extent to which sound influences the design of products, thereby potentially becoming a central element of a project and its identity. This works with the help of four acoustic sound categories: The inherent, natural sound of objects (such as, for example, the snapping of a pair of scissors as they close, or the ignition of a lighter); the invented sound (eg. the sound of electronic instruments, or the sound of cars); the functional sound of objects (the ticking of clocks, or the click of a camera); and the sound of interactions or signals (such as the wake-up alarm of an alarm clock, or the whistling of a kettle). more
